Tips for Maximizing your Instagram Bio Link

Instagram Bio Link

Despite being owned by Facebook for years, Instagram has maintained its no-link post policy, leaving marketers to get creative. We break down three ways you can maximize that little link in your bio to drive more business.

  1. Use a third party app like LinkTree which aggregates a series of links in it. Pros: You can highlight as many links as you want at once. Cons: It often gets cluttered and people don’t take the next step to click. Recommendation: Look at your Google Analytics to see where traffic is coming from. We suspect that you’ll have more luck from Facebook links than you will from this link aggregator. If that’s the case think about Tactic 2 or 3 below.

  2. Link directly to your site. If your goal is to sell products or have people take a deeper dive just commit to the one link. Pros: It’s direct and simple for the end user. Cons: You are limited to sharing one page on the site and people may bounce quickly. If you do want to share a news article or external link, you have to be cognizant to swap out the link manually and then remember to switch it back. Recommendation: Test this method against the third-party app (LinkTree) to see what drives more traffic during a 30-day time period.

  3. Create a funnel. Forget web traffic and get them to hand over their email for a possible long-term relationship. Do this by creating a landing page that has some sort of offer - from a recipe to a white paper to a discount. Pros: You can build up your database and continue talking with your customers for a longer period. Cons: People may be deterred to click if they feel they’ll have to hand over their email. That said, the more serious customers may be open to it. Recommendation: Test out this method for 30 days as well to see how many sign-ups you get. You may need to test a few offers to see what really resonates with your customers. Looking at your Google Analytics on your site should be a good indicator of what content draws people in.
